What Is the Average Healing Time for Mini Dental Implants?

In this video, Dr. Diane Hines talks about the recovery process, from diet tips to personal follow-up care after surgery.

Patients often ask about healing time after dental implant placement. The answer depends on the type of implant and the individual patient.

Traditional implants are more invasive and typically require 24–48 hours of initial recovery before resuming normal activities.

Mini implants are less invasive, and many patients report minimal discomfort—often managing with just over-the-counter pain relief and returning quickly to their daily routines.

To support recovery, we provide every implant patient with a care guide and recipe book. Immediately after the procedure, we recommend smoothies and cool foods to reduce swelling and provide comfort. After 48 hours, patients can transition to soups and other soft foods. Those who follow these guidelines often report smooth healing and excellent comfort.

As part of our care, Dr. Hines or Dr. Seluk personally call each patient the evening of their surgery to check in, answer questions, and ensure everything is going well. Our priority is not only a successful procedure, but also your comfort and peace of mind throughout recovery.
