Meet Dr. Diane Hines

In this video, Dr. Diane Hines shares her journey from public health dentistry in Detroit to leadership roles on the State Board of Dentistry.

My name is Dr. Diane Hines, and I am a proud native of Detroit. I earned both my undergraduate degree in psychology and my Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry.

After graduation, I began my career as a public health dentist, serving with the Oakland County Health Department, the City of Detroit Health Department, and within correctional facilities. Working with underserved populations gave me a deep sense of compassion and strengthened my commitment to providing care for those in need.

Beyond clinical practice, I have been active in organized dentistry through the Michigan Dental Association (MDA). I have served on multiple committees, including the Continuing Education Committee, and have supported campaigns for several MDA presidents. Additionally, I was honored to be appointed by two Michigan governors to the State Board of Dentistry, where I served for eight years, including four years as board chair.
