Platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) is a natural healing aid that can be used during oral surgery. The process begins by drawing a small amount of blood from your arm. Because it comes from your own body, it is completely biocompatible.

The blood is placed in a centrifuge, which spins it to create a fibrin membrane rich in platelets and growth factors. During procedures such as a tooth extraction, this membrane is placed directly into the socket before suturing.
