Para salvar el diente, se extraen la pulpa (el tejido vivo del interior del diente), los nervios, las bacterias y cualquier caries, y el espacio resultante se rellena con materiales dentales especiales y medicados, que restauran la funci\u00f3n completa del diente.<\/p>\n<p>La endodoncia es el tratamiento de elecci\u00f3n para salvar un diente que, de otro modo, morir\u00eda y tendr\u00eda que ser extra\u00eddo. Muchos pacientes creen que la soluci\u00f3n es extraer el diente problem\u00e1tico, pero lo que no se tienen en cuenta es que la extracci\u00f3n (sacar) un diente acabar\u00e1 siendo m\u00e1s costosa y causar\u00e1 problemas importantes a los dientes adyacentes.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1199 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/www.aestheticdental.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Root-Canal-Therapy-Preventative-Dentistry-in-Southfield-MI.jpg\" alt=\"Tratamiento de conducto radicular | Odontolog\u00eda preventiva en Southfield, M\u00edchigan\" width=\"448\" height=\"299\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.aestheticdental.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Root-Canal-Therapy-Preventative-Dentistry-in-Southfield-MI.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.aestheticdental.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Root-Canal-Therapy-Preventative-Dentistry-in-Southfield-MI-18x12.jpg 18w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 448px) 100vw, 448px\" \/>El tratamiento de conducto radicular tiene un alto \u00edndice de \u00e9xito y suele durar toda la vida, aunque en ocasiones es necesario volver a tratar un diente debido a nuevas infecciones.<\/p>\n<h3>Signos y s\u00edntomas que indican la necesidad de un tratamiento de conducto radicular:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Un absceso (o grano) en las enc\u00edas.<\/li>\n<li>Sensibilidad al fr\u00edo y al calor.<\/li>\n<li>Dolor de muelas intenso.<\/li>\n<li>A veces no se presentan s\u00edntomas.<\/li>\n<li>Hinchaz\u00f3n y\/o sensibilidad.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Razones para realizar un tratamiento de conducto radicular:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>La caries ha llegado a la pulpa dental (el tejido vivo que se encuentra dentro del diente).<\/li>\n<li>Se ha desarrollado una infecci\u00f3n o un absceso dentro del diente o en la punta de la ra\u00edz.<\/li>\n<li>Lesi\u00f3n o traumatismo en el diente.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>\u00bfEn qu\u00e9 consiste el tratamiento de conducto?<\/h3>\n<p>Un tratamiento de conducto requiere una o m\u00e1s citas y puede ser realizado por un dentista o un endodoncista (un especialista en tratamientos de conducto).<\/p>\n<p>Mientras el diente est\u00e1 adormecido, se colocar\u00e1 un dique de goma (una l\u00e1mina de goma) alrededor del diente para mantenerlo seco y libre de saliva. Se realiza una abertura de acceso en la parte superior del diente y se introducen una serie de limas de conducto radicular en la abertura, una por una, para eliminar la pulpa, el tejido nervioso y las bacterias. Si hay caries, tambi\u00e9n se eliminar\u00e1 con instrumentos dentales especiales.<\/p>\n<p>Una vez que el diente est\u00e9 completamente limpio, se sellar\u00e1 con un empaste permanente o, si se necesitan citas adicionales, se colocar\u00e1 un empaste temporal.<\/p>\n<p>En la siguiente cita, normalmente una semana despu\u00e9s, se rellenar\u00e1n y sellar\u00e1n las ra\u00edces y la cavidad interior del diente con materiales dentales especiales. Se colocar\u00e1 un empaste para cubrir la abertura en la parte superior del diente.
